Michael is an experienced lawyer, having practiced in both Tasmania and Queensland, in various Courts, Tribunals, and non-adversarial forums.
He graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2011 with a combined degree in Law and Arts, and after completing a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, was admitted to the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 2012 and the High Court of Australia in 2013.
A born and raised Tasmanian, he moved to Brisbane shortly after his admission to commence a career as a generalist lawyer, focussing on civil and criminal litigation.
He successfully established and supervised a thriving criminal practice, and acted for a broad range of private, legally-aided and corporate clients. He returned to Tasmania in 2018, and practiced in Hobart, and thereafter in Launceston, maintaining a generalist civil and criminal litigation practice, whilst also practising in Wills and Estates, debt recovery, and as an agent for a number of mainland firms.
Michael is a firm believer in access to justice, and has an impressive record of success in the Magistrates Court of Tasmania and the Supreme Court of Tasmania, the Tasmanian Civil & Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT) and other State-based tribunals, and the Fair Work Commission.
He adopts a pragmatic, solutions-based approach towards legal issues, and whilst he is a confident and experienced Courtroom advocate, he considers it paramount to explore every possible alternative dispute resolution avenue for his clients.
Michael is approachable and friendly, delivers advice in a plain-English, non-jargonised manner, and takes the time to understand the specific needs of each and every client he represents, whether their matter concerns a simple Police infringement, or a complex dispute involving multiple parties.
Gus, our resident Chinese Crested Powderpuff (yes, you read that correctly) has had exposure to the Legal Industry since 2023.
What he may lack in experience, he makes up for in companionship, cuddles and humour. He is an integral part of the Tamar Legal team.
Gus visits our offices on occasion, however unfortunately he does not have access to Court or Tribunal facilities.
He may not be able to assist you with your legal problem, but has a flawless track record of lifting the mood, and making that legal problem just that little bit easier to navigate.
